About
In the late 1990s, Rosie Thomas toured with pop band Velour 100 before she shifted to a solo career. Sub Pop Records took her under the label because of her guest performance in "Parking Lot" from Damien Jurado's Ghost of David. Her debut album, When We Were Small, was released in January 2001. Only With Laughter Can You Win followed in 2003, then came 2005's If Songs Could Be Held. All these three albums were under Sub Pop Records. In 2006, her song "Faith's Silver Elephant" was included in indie label Paper Bag Records' compilation disc See You on the Moon! Songs for Kids of All Ages. This year was controversial for Thomas as Pitchfork made the erroneous claim that she and Sufjan Stevens were having a child together. Thomas' fourth and latest album, These Friends of Mine, was released late that year but under a new label Nettwerk. Sufjan Stevens and Denison Witmer worked with Rosie Thomas on this album. Stevens played the guitar and banjo, and also did some vocals.
