About
Electronic rock band Rogue Traders came in the scene in 2000. The name came from Ewan McGregor's 1998 film, Rogue Traders. Steve Davis and James Ash met in 1989 and later decided to work together. in 1992, the duo moved to Melbourne and the singles "Retrosexual" and "Out to Get You" were a huge success. After a decade, the two decided to have a complete makeover in their music. In 2003, Rogue Traders released a dance album, We Know What You're Up To. The lead single "Need You to Show Me" entered the ARIA Top 40 Club Chart reigning at #16. The next single "One of My Kind" (formerly titled "Need You Tonight) was a major hit. It peaked at #10 and was always played both in U.K. and Australia. It also got an award for Best Dance Single in the ARIA Award in 2003.
In 2004, Ash and Davis got acquianted with Australian soap opera star, Natalie Bassingthwaighte who played Isabelle "Izzy" Hoyland in Neighbours. The following year she joined the duo and made her the frontwoman. They also added Tim Henwood (guitar) and Cam McGlinchey (drums) to the line up. Here Come the Drums was released in 2005 with the single "Voodoo Child". It was again a major smash hit in the club scene. It peaked at #1 on the Australian singles chart.
