Robin Thicke

Singer/songwriter Robin Thicke (Pronounced Thick) was one of the few to define the new millennium's blue-eyed soul movement. His creamy California skin and sapphire blue eyes were equally charming, but Thicke has merit. He has a soulful disposition similar to Remy Shand, but mix that with the funk of Jamiroquai and you have Thicke's sultry R&B sound. He is currently married to actress Paula Patton.

About

Born Robin Charles Thicke on March 10, 1977 in Los Angeles, California to vocalist Gloria Loring and actor Alan Thicke. He credits his dad's musical tastes, for it was him that motivated Thicke to immerse himself in all kinds of pop music. The elder Thicke is popular for writing the theme songs for The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes, so naturally Thicke had his head in music. He was an average student; by 13, he was writing songs.

He also followed in the acting footsteps of his father. At the age of 12 and 13, he made a string of guest appearances in shows like The Wonder Years and Growing Pains. But music was Thicke's first love. At 16, he befriended the president of Bad Boy Entertainment, Andre Harell, and struck a deal with Interscope Records. Thicke began writing hits for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Mya, Brandy, Marc Anthony, and Jordan Knight. Still, an artist in the making was dying for his own chance. By 2000, Thicke, who was in his mid-20s, made his dream come true. Thicke issued his debut album, Cherry Blue Skies, in fall 2002.

Robin Thicke released his debut album, Cherry Blue Skies in fall 2002. The album was a mix of Blue-eyed Soul, a mix of influences like Jamiroquia and Remy Shand. He followed it up with the release of his first single and video When I Get You Alone. The video received attention, but overseas. Rating #17 in Australia, #15 in Belgium, #15 in Italy, #8 in New Zealand and #5 in the Netherlands. Although receiving only moderate success, this budding artist was not deterred in making his music career come true. He re-released his album and changed the name into A Beautiful World, offering extra songs. The album had only a few promotions. Despite of it, the album peaked at the Billboard 200 Charts at #152.

By 2005, Robin Thicke began workd on his third studio album, The Evolution Of Robin Thicke. The first single off the album, Wanna Love U Girl (featuring Pharrell Williams) is climbing the UK charts, and doing very well. Now gaining mainstream success, Thicke cut off his trademark long hair and grungy look to a more clean-cut, suave persona for the video of Wanna Love U Girl, directed by Hype Williams. His album The Evolution Of Robin Thicke is set to be released on October 3, 2006.
