Robert Palmer was a Rock/Soul Singer. Known for his elegant designer suits and his preference for fine food and wines, he is also an experimental musician who has been among the first to experiment with reggae, electronic sound, and international folk music motifs. One of his hit single released is, "Addicted To Love".

About
Robert Palmer or "Robert Allen Palmer" in real life was born on January 19, 1946 in Batley, Yorkshire, England. When Robert was 18 months old his parents emigrated to Malta because his father, "Les Palmer", was posted there with the Navy. Robert returned to England when he was aged 10 when his parents moved to Scarborough, Yorkshire. He studied in Scarborough Technical College and founded the band "The Mandrakes" at the age of 16. He joined The Alan Bown and replaced their lead singer "Jess Roden" in 1969. They released their debut album, Listen On under Island Records in 1970 which features the single, "Get Myself Straight".
He also was in the bands Dada and Vinegar Joe from 1970 to 1974. The band released three albums, Vinegar Joe in 1972, Rock 'n' Roll Gypsies in 1972 and Six Star General in 1973. Robert was convinced by "Chris Blackwell" of Island Record to do a solo career. He released his solo debut album, Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley in 1974 under Island Records. The album features the singles, "Sailin' Shoes", "Hey Julia" and "Blackmail".
During 1975 Robert had moved to New York and released his next album, Pressure Drop. It features the hit singles, "River Boat", "Trouble" and "Here With You Tonight". He released his next album, Some People Can Do What They Like in October 1976 and features the singles, "Man Smart/Woman Smarter/ Keep In Touch" which charter at #63 in the US Singles Chart and "Some People Can Do What They Like/ One last Look.". However, with the failure of this album, Robert decided to move to Bahamas.
In January 1978, Robert released his next album, Double Fun which marked a commercial breakthrough for him. The album chartered at #45 on the US Billboard charts. The album features the hit single, "Every Kinda People" which landed at #16 on the US Singles Chart. His follow up album, Secrets was released in June 1979 with the hit singles, "Love Can Run Faster" which chartered at #14 in the US Singles Chart, "Too Good To Be True" and "Can We Still Be Friends". His album, Clues was released in 1980. It features the single, " "Looking For Clues" and "What It Take". The lack of commercial success in America with Clues, the singles failed to chart and the album reached only number 59.
In 1981, he released the hit single, "Some Guys Have All The Luck" which chartered at #16 on the US Singles Chart. This single was included in the album, Maybe It's Live. In 1983, his album, Pride was released and includes the singles, "Pride", and "The Silver Gun". In July 23, 1983, Robert returned to the UK to support Duran Duran at Aston Villa football ground for a fund-raising show for the charity Mencap. Robert released his abother album, Riptide in 1985. It features the singles, "Discipline Of Love" which charted #82 at the US Charts, "Riptide", "Trip Bag" and his number one hit single, "Addicted To Love".
Robert moved Lugano, Switzerland in September 1987. In March 1988 Robert released the single "Sweet Lies/ Want You More". This song was featured on the soundtrack of the movie of the same name featuring Treat Williams and Joanne Pacula and reached number 94 in the US single charts. He released his another #1 hit single, "Simply Irresistible" in June 1988. In 1990, he released his album, Don't Explain and features the Top 10 single, "I'll Be Your Baby Tonight", in a collaboration with UB40. His album, Ridin' High was released in 1992. He reunited with Power Station in 1995 and released their second album. His compilation album At His Very Best was released in 2002. His last album Drive released in May 2003, got good critics. On September 26, 2003, he died of a heart attack in a hotel room in Paris, France, 2 days after recording his last TV show. He was 54.
