Ride is an Alternative band. The group got its name from a piece of graphic design Gardener produced for a typography workshop.

About

Ride is a British Alternative Rock and Shoegazing band from Oxford, England. The band was formed on 1988 and officially broke up on 1996. Their members went on for other projects. One of the most notable was Andy Bell who became the bass player of Oasis. In the present, they are semi-active releasing a couple of compilation albums. Their first performance as a group was in the summer of 1988 for their College's Christmas Party. After the group Ride released three EPs entitled Ride, Play and Fall. They were also able to record two sessions for John Peel's BBC Radio 1 show in 1990. Soon they were able to released four albums which were all a big hit Nowhere, Going Blank Again, Carnival of Light and Tarantula. The group has disbanded and Andy Bell formed a new band called "Hurricane #1" but was dissolved for he was invited to be part of the group which was Oasis.

  • On October 16th, 2001, the four members of Ride were filmed by BBC's Channel 4, with the footage used for a documentary on Sonic Youth.
