Rhymefest is a hip-hop and rap artist and songwriter from Chicago whose first official album was "Blue Collar" released on 2006. He also co-wrotes Kanye West's "Jesus Walks" single released on 2004.

About
Early Life
Rhymefest was born Che Smith on January 1, 1997 on the south side of Chicago in Jeffrey Manor. He dropped out of highschool but still was able to attend Columbia Collefge after passing the GED to study radio broadcasting major. However after learning her girlfriend was pregnant by the time he was about to attend college, he moved to Indianapolis where he was forced to do various low paying jobs when his son Solomon was born on 1988. When his wife graduated and got a job as Chemical Engineer this gave them a breather space, where he is now able to focus on his passion for music.
Freestyle Rapping Circuit
Through years, Rhymefest had gained reputations as one of the most honest, witty, intelligent and charismatic rappers on the freestyle battle rapping circuit. While leaving Indiana, he was introduced to Mark Ronson by then manager Ron Miner. And on 2003, immediately got a recroding deal with Ronson's Allido Records, a subsidiary of Sony. There he was featured on the track "Bout to Get Ugly" on Ronson's album "Here Comes the Fuzz" in 2003 and was also featured in the official soundtrack of the films The Rundown, Take The Lead, and Big Momma's House 2 with the track Private Dancer along with We Got Action. Recently he was also featured on his friend Kanye West's track "We Can Make it Better" on the album "Hurricane Relief: Come Together Now" a tribute to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Debut Album
When his contract with Allido expired, he continuously worked with West for the released of his debut album on July 11, 2006 entitled "Blue Collar". On the album he still managed to worked with longtime friend Mark Ronson as well as producer Kanye West. On the album he collaborates with rap artist such as Citizen Cope, Carl Thomas, Mario and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard.
Goodwill Hip Hop Ambassador
While meeting with UK Parliament leader David Cameron on October 19, 2006, both had discussed about the violence rap music brings from its explicit lyrics. Cameron higlighted the problem but both agreed not to ban but instead urge rappers to portray the positive side of it.
