Rhett Akins is an American Country Singer who rose to fame via his hit single, "What They Talkin About".

Rhett Akins or Thomas Rhett Akins in real life was born on October 13, 1969 at Valdosta, Georgia, USA. At the age of 11, he already learned to play guitar and formed his own band with his two younger brothers. Rhett became interested more in football quarterback, however after he married, he gave up his studies and worked at his father's oil and gas distribution company. After performing in a family gathering, he decided to pursue his career. In 1992, he went to Nashville, where he started submitting demo tapes. Rhett signed a recording contract under Decca Records.
His debut album, Thousand Memories was released in 1994, which features his two hit singles, "What They Talkin About", and "I Broke For Brunnettes". In the summer of 1995, he released his other single, "That Ain't My Truck" from the said album and chartered at #3 in Billboard Charts. He released his second album, Somebody New in 1996 which also features his single with the same title. His third album, What Livin's All About was released in 1998 which contain two hit singles, "More Than Everything" and "Better Than It Used To Be". His next albums, Friday Night in Dixie were released in 2002 under Audium Records and People Like Me on 2006 under BNA Records.
