Raw Like Sushi was released on May 2, 1989 under Virgin records. The album hit no.2 on the UK albums chart and no.40 on the U.S. chart. The first single in the album "Buffalo Stance" hit no.1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play. The second single "Kisses On The Wind" hit no.8 on the Hot Rap Singles chart. Other songs included in the album are "The Next Generation", "So Here I Come" and "My Bitch" with Gilly Gilman.
