About
Country music Rascal Flatts feature, Gary LeVox (born July 10, 1970), Jay DeMarcus (born April 26, 1971) and Joe Don Rooney (born Sept. 13, 1975). DeMarcus a native of Columbus, Ohio moved to Nashville to pursue his career as a musician. In 1997, LeVox (his second cousin) and Columbus followed DeMarcus to pursue thesame passion.
When DeMarcus worked in Chely Wright's band he met Joe Don Rooney. Both LeVox and DeMarcus did gigs at bars with a part-time guitarist, one night when the guitarist didn't show up, Rooney sat in for him. The trio decidedto record demos and they signed with a Disney imprint, Lyric Street. In 2000, they released the singles "Prayin' for Daylight," "This Everyday Love" and "While You Loved Me". The trio sold 500,000 albums. Later on they released "I'm Movin' On" which captured a more mature audience, it helped their album reach platinum.
In 2002, the single "These Days" from their second album, Melt peaked at #1 on the charts and won a CMA Horizon Award. In 2003, they earned a Vocal Group of the Year Award from the CMA. In 2004, the next single, "Mayberry", topped the charts. Later that year, DeMarcus married Allison Alderson.
In 2005, the band released their third album, Feels Like Today. The single "Bless the Broken Road" peaked at #1 on the Billboard's country airplay charts for five weeks which earned them a Grammy. The album became the top-selling country album of 2005. It included the hit singles "Skin (Sarabeth)" and "Fast Cars and Freedom".
In 2006, they released the album Me And My Gang. It included the singles "What Hurts the Most" and "I Wish". The same year, Rooney married Playboy's playmate of the Year, Tiffany Fallon. The single "Life Is a Highway" was included in the animated movie, Cars. They also won another CMA Vocal Group Award.
