Ramones were the first American Punk Rock Band. Ramones were voted the second greatest rock and roll band ever in Spin Magazine. One of their albums is Halfway To Sanity. In 2002 they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

About

Joey Ramone on drums, Johhny Ramon on guitar, Dee Ramone as the lead vocalist and Richie Stern on bass. These were members of the Ramones which was formed in Forest Hills, Queens, New York in 1974. After the band was build, Dee Dee realized that he can't play guitar and be the lead singer at the same time. He choses to play the bass instead. Joey became their lead vocalist. He left the drummer's seat so they got Tommy Ramone to be their drummer. They played their first show at the Performance Studio in New York on March 30, 1974.

In the end of 1975, they signed a recording contract with Sire Records. Their self-titled album was released in the early part of 1976.

They released their second album Ramones Leave Home in 1977. In that year, Tommy left the band and he was replaced by Marky Ramone. After that, they have more succeding album released.

In 1982, Marky left the band and he was replaced by Richie Ramone.

In 1987, following the release of Halfway to Sanity, Richie left the band and Marky rejoined the group. In 1988, Dee Dee left to band to be a solo rapper. He was replaced by C.J. Ramone.

In 1996, After they performed in Lollapalooza festival, the Ramones disbanded, reportedly due to ongoing personality clashes and frustration at not achieving success commensurate with their influence. Their final show was held on August 6, 1996 at the Hollywood Palace. They parted ways, 20 years after the released of their debut album.

On April 15, 2001, Joey passed away due to lymphoma. June 5, 2002, Dee Dee was found dead in his home in Los Angeles following a heroin overdose, only two months after The Ramones were inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Johnny passed away on September 15, 2004, after a long battle with cancer.
