[edit] About
Radiohead was formed in the mid 1980's at Abingdon School, a boys-only public school just outside Oxford. The quintet then began practicing in their school's music room which led them to form their first band "On a Friday", named after their regular practice day. Soon, the group left Oxford to attend University, they still continued to practice on weekends and holiday breaks always putting in their mind that they shall make a comeback.
After four years of inactivity, they began releasing demo CDs and performing live again in Oxford in 1991. This time their popularity rose to the point of appearing in Curfew, a local music magazine and live bookings increased tremendously. Various giants in the record label industry soon showed interest in them where eventually they signed a six-album recording contract with EMI under their new name Radiohead.
Shortly after releasing their first EP "Drill" on 1992, the band hired known producers Paul Kolderie and Sean Slade to produce their first album "Pablo Honey" which was finished recording in three weeks time. With their first album, they began touring America and received great reception that made their single and album an instant hit in the music industry. The first album was certified Platinum by RIAA.
