Queen Latifah is an American Grammy singer and rapper. She appeared on the TV series Living Single, Set it Off, Bringing Down the House and Chicago, where she was nominated for Oscars.

About
Queen Latifah (Dana Elaine Owens) was born on March 18th, 1970 in Newark, New Jersey. Both her father and brother were cops. At a young age she was influenced by jazz and funk. Latifah pursued her rap career and started sending out tapes to radio stations. At 18 years old, her home made mix tapes became a hit. She signed in with Tommy Boy Records. In 1989, her debut album, All Hail To The Queen, was released.
In 1991, Latifa's sophomore album, Nature Of A Sista, showed the rapper's potential. In 1993, under MoTown Records she released her third album, Black Reign. Latifa not only focused on her music career, she also tried acting. She landed a TV show called Living Single from 1993 to 1998. Latifa also appeared on the films, Jungle Fever (1991) and Juice (1992).
During the debut of her sitcom, Latifa's brother got into an accident and died. She made a scholarship foundation under her brother's name. Before the release of her films Set it Off and Hoodlum, Latifa was arrested for possession of drugs and weapons that was found in her vehicle. She was sentenced guilty and was given a fine.
Latifa started appearing in a number of films and landed herself a talk show called The Queen Latifah Show in 1999. The show kept running for two years. Latifa also wrote an emporwing book titled Ladies First: Revelations of a Strong Woman. In California, Latifa was arrested for driving under the influence. She was given a $300 fine an a 3 year probation. Later that year, She's a Queen: A Collection of Hits was issued. In 2004, Latifa became c0-CEO of Flavor Unit Entertainment. She also released the The Dana Owens Album which was a certified Gold.
