Public Enemy is a seminal hip-hop group. One of their biggest hit albums was Fear of A Black Planet. The group was the first rap artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Public Enemy was formed in the year 1982 at Roosevelt, Long Island, New York. Chuck D born on August 1, 1960 in Carlton, Ridenhour was the one who formed the group. Chuck was a Dj at the student radio station WBAU. He recruited Terminator X and fellow Islam member Professor Griff to be a member of his group.
The groups first album, Yo! Bum Rush the Show was released in 1987 under Def Jam Records. They released their second album, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back in 1988 which get a good reviews and reached billboard charts. That album won Album of The Year by the Village Voice Pazz, the first rap album to be ranked number one by a rock critics. They also released their album, Fear of A Black Planet in 1990. Their biggest album was Apocalypse '91...The Enemy Strikes Black which went 4x platinum. There are more hit follow up albums.
The group will be inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame this year. They have been ranked number 44 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 100 Greatest Artist of All Time List and the first rap artists inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
