About

Prodigy or "Albert Johnson" in real life was born on November 2, 1974 in Hempstead, New York. He is also a member of the Rap Duo, Mobb Depp. In 2000, Prodigy released his first solo album, H.N.I.C. under Relativity Records. The album chartered #2 on the Top Independent Albums Chart, #6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart and #18 on US Billboard 200. Afterwhich, Prodigy stop for a while in releasing solo albums. Instead, his group, Mobb Deep continue to released more albums. He has also worked with several Hip-Hop Artists like, Big Pun, Fat Joe, Jedi Mind Tricks, Jay-Z, Common, Kool G. Rap, The Beatnuts, among others. In 2007, he released another solo album, Return of the Mac which chartered #2 on the Top Independent Albums Chart and #4 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. His third solo album, H.N.I.C. 2 will be releasing this March 2008.

  • On October 9, 2007, Prodigy plead guilty to unlawful gun possession charges. Since this was his third gun conviction, he was facing a fifteen-year sentence, however, he has struck a plea bargain giving him a commuted sentence of 3 1/2 years.
