About

Recorded on a Fostex X-15 four-track, this was the first finished album that Zonn had produced. It featured an eclectic mix of acoustic-folkish numbers, some more-electric mainstream songs and an element of spacey-poetic weirdness.

Trivia

  • At the time, John was billing himself as 'Alias John Riley' - a name that he adopted from a song on the Fifth Dimension album by The Byrds, which was titled simply 'John Riley'. He later took the name 'Zonn', when an MC at a gig said "...and John's on next...".

Song Meanings

  • Long Term Memories Is about scary, dreamy stuff. The music is naturally 'goth-icky', which was fashionable at the time!
  • Obzedrollis Cool Is an instrumental, with more than a whisper towards the music of Ozric Tentacles.
  • Cosmic Sister Love Think Bob Dylan crossed-with Cat Stevens. It's about women.
  • Naked Libido Again, 'women', but with a nod towards erotic poetry. This is essentially a 'reading'.
  • Down Country A rather depressing expression of a visit to see an unrequited love in Cornwall.
  • Supper in the Morning Blues, but funky, this song talks of the questioning of 'reality'!
  • Devils and Angels Speaks for itself, in many ways, as being a song of opposites.
  • Rhubarb Jam 'Jamming', but with oneself! This is an improvised instrumental track.
  • Please Remember Me Acoustic-y, Cat Stevens/Mamas and Papas feel to this one. It's about 'making ones mark', in various ways.
