Phish was one of the successful band groups in the 80's. Their album, Junta became one of their hit albums. In 2004, they decided to disband the group.

In 1983, Phish was formed by Trey Anastacio which became the guitarist and the vocalist of the group, John Fishmas is the drummer and Jeff Holdsworth also the guitarist. All of them attended school in the University of Vermont. They recruit Mike Gordon to be their bassist. After they were already complete, they started assembling a demo tape.

In 1984, the Phish started performing at their campus. Sooner, they began performing a Campus Concerts including Goddard College's Springfest in the year 1985. In that year, Page McConnnell was added to the group to became their keyboardist. After a few months, Jeff left the group.

In 1988, Phish released their album Junta. In 1989, they held their concert tour outside of New England. The group had many follow up albums.

In 2000, after releasing successful hit albums, they announced their temporary break up because each of the members wants to try a different direction with mostly successful results.

Before the end on 2002, the group came back with an announcement that they would begin to play live again.

In 2004, they officially call it quits. However, up to now, they are still releasing their live concert albums.
