Philip Jeays
From WikiMusicGuide, the free music guide. Your music wiki.
Philip Jeays is an English singer-songwriter in the chansonnier tradition. Many of his songs display a barbed wit, delivered in a dramatic and often intense style. His work bears the influence of Jacques Brel and Jake Thackray, and he has also been compared to early David Bowie. Jeays has produced five albums to date, all on the independent Ditton Pye label, the most recent being Mr Jeays (released 2005).

[edit] About
Philip Jeays was born in 1962 and raised in the south of England. He began performing in the 1980s, but didn't release his first album until 1999.
Along with Des de Moor and Barb Jungr, he has built the profile of the "chanson" in England, where it is often undervalued.
For many years Philip Jeays has performed solo and with a band featuring David Harrod on piano. In 2006 he also started playing with the Fabulous Stapleton Sisters as his backing band.
