[edit] About
Peter Lewis Kingston Wentz was born June 5, 1979, in Wilmette, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, to Pete Wentz II, a lawyer, and Dale Wentz, a high school admissions counselor. He attended New Trier High School and North Shore Country Day High School where he was an all-state soccer player. During his freshman year of high school he began skipping school regularly and the school counselor convinced his parents to send him to boot camp to straighten him out. During this time, Wentz began writing songs to vent out his frustrations. After graduating high school in 1997, he attended DePaul University studding political science, dropping out one quarter shy of graduation to focus more on music. He was a member of the band Racetraitor from 1996 to 1999, and Arma Angelus from 1998 to 2002. In 2001, he became the bassist for popular rock band Fall Out Boy.
They released two independent albums, and an EP, before signing to Island Records in 2003, and releasing another EP. In 2005, they released their major-label debut album, "From Under the Cork Tree", which gained them worldwide fame and recognition. They had similar success with 2007's, "Infinity on High".
As of 2009, Fall Out Boy is on hiatus, and is not sure whether they will continue or not. Pete Wentz has stated he has no intention of a solo career. In 2008 he married Ashlee Simpson, sister of pop star Jessica Simpson, and they have a son Bronx.
