About
Peabo Bryson or "Robert Peabo Bryson" in real life was born on April 13, 1951 in Greenville, South Carolina. Peabo started his career as a featured vocalist of the band "Al Freeman and the Upsetters" in 1965. In 1968 until 1973, Peabo became a member of Moses Dillard and The Tex-Town Display. They released their hit single like ""I'm So Into You'. Also, during that year, he composed and produced for the Bang Records imprint, out of Atlanta.
In 1976, Peabo released his debut album, Peabo. The album chartered #48 at the US R&B Charts. After a few moderate hits at Bullet Records, Peabo relocated for a lucrative period at Capitol Records. Other hit albums released under Capitol Records are, Crosswinds in 1979 which landed at #3 on the US R&B Charts, I Am Love in 1981 which chartered at #6 on the US R&B Charts, and Don't Play With Fire in 1982 which peaked at #8 on the US R&B Charts.
Peabo left Capitol Records and went to Elektra in 1984. He released his album, Straight From The Heart in that same year in 1984. The album spawned the hit single, "If Ever You're In My Arms Again". He released his next album, Quiet Storm in 1986 which features the songs, "Good Combination", "Somebody in Your Life" and "Catch 22". His next album under Elektra was Positive which was released in 1988.
He returned in Capitol Records in 1989 and released the album, All My Love. After that he moved to Columbia Records and released the album, Can You Stop The Rain which chartered #1 on the US R&B Charts. The album also features the hit single, "Closer Than Close". In 1999, he released his album, Unconditional Love. Peabo released his live album, Live In Concert: Ladies Request in 2005. In 2006, he released his compilation album, The Very Best of Peabo Bryson, a great one-disc compilation of his biggest hits recorded on multiple record labels.
