Pam Tillis is an Award Winning Country Singer who rose to fame via her hit single "Don't Tell Me What to Do,".

Pam Tillis or "Pamela Yvonne Tillis" in real life was born on July 24, 1957 in Plant City, Florida to "Mel Tillis", a country singer and songwriter in the 60's up to 80's who had several hit albums. Pam grew up in Nashville. At the age of 8, she already appeared in the Grand Ole Opry by singing the song, "Tom Dooley". She also began studying classical piano. She took up guitar at the age of 11. Pam started composing songs at the age of 13.
She attended college in University of Tennessee and formed his first band. However, after two months Pam drop out from college to pursue her singing career. She instead enroll in the Music City School of Hard Knocks. Pam pounded the pavement of Music Row, singing back-up and demos, as well as jingles for Hardee's, Coors, and Country Time Lemonade. She wrote songs for Sawgrass Music, her father's publishing company, before heading to California to in 1977.
In 1979, she went back in Nashville and focused in her songwriting. Her compositions was recorded by several famous Country Singers like, Chaka Khan, Martina McBride, Gloria Gaynor, Conway Twitty, Juice Newton, and Highway 101. Her debut album, Above and Beyond the Doll of Cutie in 1983 under Warner Bros. She signed a recording contract under Arista Records in 1989.
In 1991, she released her major album, Put Yourself in My Place which features the hit single, "Don't Tell Me What to Do,". Other top ten singles were included in this album, such as "One of Those Things" and "Maybe It Was Memphis". Her next album, Sweetheart's Dance was released in 1994 which became her highest-charting album on both "Top Country Albums" chart and the "Billboard 200" reaching number 6 and no. 51 respectively. The album featurs the hit single, "When You Walk in The Room" which chartered at #2 in the Country's Chart.
Her next album, All of This Love was releaed in 1995. It features the hit single, "River and The Highway". In 1998, she released her album, Every Time. In 2001, she released her next album, Thunder and Roses. However, after the released of that album, Pam left Arista. Her next album, It's All Relative: Tillis Sings Tillis was released in 2002 under Epic Records. Mandolin Rain was release in 2006. Her latest album, RhineStoned was released in April 2007 under Stellar Cuts.
