About
Some of the songs in this album were personally written by some of the members of the group. Prior to its release, the band split from Lou Pearlman and signed a contract with Jive Records, which is also home of their rival boyband, Backstreet Boys. They fought a court battle against Lou Pearlman and his management team that caused the delay of the release of No Strings Attached. Before the release date of the album was finalized, the first single Bye Bye Bye was serviced to radio stations where it appeared more than 2 months before the album finally hit the stores. The shifting dates of the album increased the anticipation and when they won the court battle, the federal judge allowed N'Sync to release No Strings Attached early 2000 where it flew off the shelves. It has set a record-breaking sale of 1.1 million copies in one day and 2.4 million copies in a week.
The album topped the charts for weeks and went on to become the biggest selling album in a year. With more than 17 million copies sold worldwide, it became the group's best selling album. Successful singles off this album, which also topped the US top 10 singles are: Bye Bye Bye, It's Gonna Be Me and This I Promise You which was penned by famous balladeer, Richard Marx.
