[edit] About
Born on February 12, 1981 just a few minutes apart, Natalie and Nicole Albino grew up in Queens, New York. Their parents were divorced when they were younger and soon their mother remarried a DJ who's also a Puerto Rican. Raised by their stepfather working as a DJ, the twins were exposed to different types of music. They were even inspired to write a song when they were 7 called, Sisters.
The twins realized at an early age that they want to become singers someday and their parents were very supportive of their ambitions. They took them to auditions and their stepfather gave them guitar and drum lessons. They came up with the idea of combining the first two letters of their name to form Nina and added Sky to represent their shared ambition (sky's the limit)
The twins continued their schooling and worked as DJs in their spare time. They auditioned for The Jettsonz production team who was impressed by their sound introduced them to Cipha Sounds. Cipha Sounds suggested the girls to use the Coolie Dance Riddim where they came up with the song Move Ya Body and made a demo. Cipha Sounds was so impressed with the result of the twins song using the Caribbean rhythm that he campaigned for them and their music. When the demo reached Next Plateau/Universal, Nina Sky quickly signed a contract. While the radio stations added their songs to their playlists, the twins started working on their first album.
When the song Move Ya Body was released on April 27, 2004, it peaked the charts reaching number 17. Before their self-titled album was released on June 29, 2004, their single Move Ya Body has been peaking on the charts. The album was a very personal one, something that represents who Nina Sky really is.
The following year, they released their sophomore effort, La Conexión which is a mixtape album while their third album The Musical that features more collaborations with well-known producers, with slated release on September 2006 not pushed on February 2007.
