Nick Lachey more popularly known as a member of the pop band 98 Degrees which he co-founded. He became a solo artist when the band decided to venture different/solo careers. He then became more popular when he and Jessica Simpson were married and had a TV show The Newlyweds. In line with the TV show, he also released his solo album in 2003.
Born as Nicholas Scott Lachey on November 9, 1973 in Harlan Kentucky, he was a former 98 Degrees founder (together with Jeff Timmons) and member. He attended Cincinnati's well regarded the public school. The name of the school is School for Creative and Performing Arts, this is where he developed his vocal talent and aspired to become an entertainer. After graduating, he then went to Miami University in Ohio, majoring in sports medicine. While in the university he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. During this time he realized his dream and followed his SCPA pals to Los Angeles. He together with Jeff Timmons plus Drew Lachey, Nick brother, and classamate Justin Jeffre all auditioned in Hollywood and formed the 1990s boyband 98 degrees.
Nick became the lead vocal for the band and has released 4 albums to date. Their debut album was a self-titled one, but the real success came when they released their second album 98 Degrees and Rising. After releasing 4 albums, the band sold over 10 million records. The band members are now still pursuing their own iterest but the band will start recording another album starting next year.
In 2002, Nick married a fellow pop star Jessica Simpson who he had dated for 4 years. They had both had a series of failures in their careers, Nick "faded off" the map after 98 degrees, and Jessica's 2 albums had low sales. They both needed some heavy promotions to push their careers further. Jessica's dad Joe Simpson suggested that they have a reality show that followed their newly married life. The Newlyweds premiered in MTV in 2003. The show let the viewers see the outrageous quotes, hilarious lifestyle, and mega-spending of the young couple. With this, the couple sprung back to spotlight and Jessica Simpson re-released her album In The Skin and quickly became a hit reaching triple platinum.
However, Nick's solo career didn't work out so well. Despite the popularity of Nick via The Newlyweds, his solo debut album SoulO debuted only #51 in the Billboards 200 album charts and stayed only in the charts for 11 weeks. 3 Years after his debut album, he released his second album What's Left of Me which did better than his debut album. Nick had filed a divorce with Jessica Simpson.
