From fifteen young and talented aspirants, only five survived and became the new breed of the new boy band group – Menudo. Carlos Olivero (18 years old), Jose Antonio “Monti” Montañez (18 years old), Emmanuel Velez Pagán (16 years old), Christopher “Chris” Moy (15 years old), and José Bordonada Collazo (15 years old) comprise the new Menudo which already has its own group of followers and still gaining more popularity.

We all remember the legendary boy group, Menudo who dominated the charts in the 70’s. Three decades has passed and a new breed came up when MTV aired the reality series Making Menudo, exposing young, talented and good-looking Latino boys to different challenges. The new Menudo is composed of Carlos Olivero, Jose Antonio “Monti” Montañez, Emmanuel Velez Pagán, Christopher “Chris” Moy, and José Bordonada Collazo.
All Menudo members have Puerto Rican roots (either dad or mom). Carlos lives in Chicago, Illinois, Monti in Laredo, Texas, and Chris in Dutchess County, New York. The remaining two, Jose and Emmanuel both stay in Puerto Rico.
The new boy band is a potpourri of different ingredients. Monti, being the oldest member, considers himself as the big brother, probably a role he assumed from his father who was a military man. Carlos describes himself as one who is fond of cracking jokes and a break dancer. Chris has been singing since six years old, and had the earliest dream to become a performer. Jose started singing at the age of five and at the age of 11, dancing was added to his favorite hobbies. Emmanuel proudly claims that he is the native Puerto Rican because of his accent, and can get the group to laugh with his jokes.
Menudo proudly advocates Latino artists in the music industry, and they are determined to touch people’s lives through their songs. So far for debut album, they have already recorded about fifty new songs, songs that belong to the present generation and songs with new styles which are going to be loved by everybody.
The world has to watch the new recipe that is going to be everybody’s favorite in the music industry – the Menudo! They’re new but already experts having been exposed to the working hands of many of the top icons like The Clutch, Danja, The Runners, Akon and many more.
If the world has been captivated by the popularity of the first legendary group of Menudo about three decades ago, this present generation will be enthralled by new Menudo’s voice and rhythm that brings once more the past and reunites it with the present – with more power and entertainment!
