[edit] About
New Found Glory took shape by 1997 in Coral Springs, Florida. The original line up comprises of Jordan Izaak Pundik on lead vocals, Chad Everett Gilbert (ex-Shai Hulud) on lead guitars, Ian Ryan Grushka on bass, Joe Moreno on drums and Stephen Lee Klein on rhythm guitars. Jordan Pundik and Steve Klein came up with A New Found Glory while working at the Red Lobster. That same year, they released their first LP, It's All About Girls on June under Fiddler Records. Prior to the release of their album, they've embarked on series of tours. Through this, they didn't have a hard time selling their album, thanks to the band's energetic live performances, they manage to have a fanbase. After the release of their debut album, they dropped Joe Moreno because of his different view in musical direction. It didn't take long to find a replacement for him and found Cyrus William Bolooki Their album, Nothing Gold Can Stay was released primarily by Eulogy Records in 1999, pinting 400 copies. It drew the attention of a popular punk-pop band, Midtown. A copy of it was sent to the owner of Drive Thru Records, Stephanie Reines. After hearing the band's record, she noticed their potential talent and immediately contacted Eulogy Records to secure its license and re-released the album the same year. Their popularity grew which brought them to secure a deal with MCA.
In 2000, they released their sophomore effort, an eponymous one, under the new label, MCA. The band decided to drop the letter "A" for their fans to locate their records easily. This 12-track album received positive reviews and it even ranked 107 in the Billboard 200 charts. The single Hit or Miss landed at number 15 in the US Modern Rock Tracks chart in 2001 leading to an increase in popularity. New Found Glory started their tour together with another famous punk-rock band Blink-182 and a spot on Warped Tour.
Their third studio album, Sticks and Stones released in June 11, 2002 amazingly sold for 91,000 copies on its first week, reaching the fourth position on the Billboard 200. Following the success of its predecessor, Catalyst was released on May 18, 2004 selling more than 140,000 copies on its first week and debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200.
Despite their vast popularity, the band decided to take time off recording and concentrated on touring North America and Europe. After two years, lead guitarist Chad Gilbert announced the released of their matured fifth album, Coming Home in a interview at MTV.com. Released on September 19, 2006 under their secondary label, Suretone Records. They immediately hit the road in support of their new album with direct support from The Early November and opening acts, Cartel, Limbeck and Hit The Lights on selected dates.
