About
Born Nerina Natasha Georgina Pallot (pronounced Pal-ow in the French style), on April 26, 1975 in London to her half-French father and Indian Mother. She spent her life living all over the world and being inspired by her parents' record collection. Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell and Simon & Garfunkel are some of her favorites.
At a young age, Nerina taught herself the piano while still living in India. Enough pocket money got herself her very first guitar at a tender age of 11.
Moving from India to New Jersey, USA, Nerina landed a scholarship to a prestigeous boarding school to pursue music further. There, she learned the violin and trained to be a classical Opera ingénue. After school, Nerina moved back to London to studay Art College. While studying, Pallot replaced her violin with a cello. But Nerina can also play the guitar with ease, spending her summer indoors to learn how to play Paul McCartney's Sexy Sadie by ear.
Fate came knocking on Nerina's door in the form of a record label exec for Polydoor. Regardless of the many warnings of singing with a major label, Pallot continued and finally releasing her debut album entitled, Dear Frustrated Superstar in May 25, 2004. Although receiving only mediocre reviews, this did not slow Pallot down. Her debut still produced two singles, Patience and Alien both gaining notoriety and entering the UK charts since its release.
Nerina parted ways with her label and enter a more secure place where she can concentrate on her music. Now with a new home with Chrysalis Music, Nerina got a chance to collaborate with Canadian pseudo-goth-dance group Delerium. She co-wrote and performed the single, Truly. After a successful performance with Sarah McLachlan, Nerina's career skyrocketed again around the UK, and her dance singles made it to the UK charts.
Nerina Pallot started her own independent label called Idaho, with the help of her publishers by loaning her to start up the label. With the recording company coming together, Nerina started recording for her next album, Fires. Pallot spent time in London then in Los Angeles with her producer-fiancé, Howard Willing. Singles from the album included Everybidy's Gone To War, Damascus, and All Good People. Two have been chosen as Singles of the Week at Radio 2.
After touring tremendously, supporting for bands like Semisonic, Sheryl Crow, Missy Higgins, and James Blunt, this young and talented singer was soon to be discovered by the people from 14th Floor Records after touring with Suzanne Vega. After signing with 14th Floor, the album Fires was re-released with new remixed tracks, artwork and a more commercialized video for Everybody's Gone To War.
Nerina Pallot is currently on the rise to become one of the most talented, charming, and amazing singer-songwriter the music industry has ever had.
