Natalie Merchant is one of the greatest musician in the 90's. She was a former member of 10,000 Maniacs. She rose to fame as a solo artist via her debut album, Tiger Lily.

Natalie Merchant was born on October 26, 1963 at Jamestown, New York to Anthony Merchant who was a jazz musician and Anna Merchant, a secretary. As a musician, she studied piano lessons in her early child. When Natalie is 7 years old, his parents were separated. Her mother remarried a college professor after the divorce.
Natalie graduated in Jamestown Community College. She usually hangs out with DJ friends. One time, during the concert of her friends, they ask her to go to stage and perform with them. She became a member of the band which officially called 10,000 Maniacs in 1981.
In the year 1983, the band started to release an album, which became a hit. Natalie left the group in 1993 and went solo. She released her debut album, Tiger Lily in 1995 with a hit singles Carnival and Wonder. Her two albums, Ophelia and Motherland was an instant hit respectively.
