Nappy Roots is an American Hip-Hop group formed in Kentucky who rose to fame via their album, Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz

Nappy Roots were consists of "R.Prophet", "Milledgiville", "Skinny Peville", "B.Stille", "Ron Clutch" and "Big V". They met while studying at Western Kentucky University in Bowling, Green, and Kentucky. The began performing at a local record cum studio called It's Music.


Their debut album, Country Fried Cess was released in 1999. After that, they signed a recording contract under Atlantic Records. Eventually, they released their first album, Watermelon, Chicken and Gritz under the said label on 2002, which also features their hit singles, "Headz Up", "Awnaw" and "Po Folks". Their next album, Wooden Leather was released in August 2003, which features the singles, "Noun The Globe" and "Sick and Tired". Their first independent album, Innerstate Music was released in 2007, which issued the singles, "Good Day" and "Keep it Real".
