[edit] About
Hip-hop rappers N.W.A. began when O'Shea Ice Cube Jackson and Andre Dr. Dre Young met in 1986. The two wrote Boyz-n-the-Hood for Eric Eazy-E Wright. Eazy-E needed rappers to sign in HBO Records but it was rejected. Eazy-E decided to record it himself with Cube and Dre, thus, Niggaz With Attitude N.W.A. began.
When the three finished their first collection, Cube decided go back to school at the Phoenix Institute of Technology but returned in 1988. At that time Eazy just released his debut solo album, Straight Outta Campton. It sold 750, 000 copies. The single “Fuck tha Police” caught the attention of the FBI and gave them a warning letter. In 1990, Cube and manager, Jerry Heller, were in a court battle. Cube claimed that Heller was cheating on him. This resulted to Cube leaving N.W.A. and began his solo career. N.W.A. continued recording albums. In 1991, the controversial EFIL4ZAGGIN (“Niggaz 4 Life” backward) climbed at the top of the pop charts and #2 on the R&B Chart. In 1992, N.W.A. separated to start their solo careers. Two years later, Eazy-E left Jerry Heller and Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and Eazy-E talked about reuniting but in 1995, Eazy-E died due to AIDS.
