Monifah or Monifah Carter in real life was born on December 31, 1969. She grew up in Spanish Harlem. Her family encouraged Monifah to be a singer in her early age.

CAREER

Monifah signed a recording contract under MCA and released her debut album, Moods Moments in 1996. Her second studio album Mo'hogany was released in 1998, which chartered at number 9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles. Her latest studio album was Home.
