Monifah is an American R&B singer from Spanish Harlem who rose to fame via her biggest hit album, Mo'hogany.

Monifah or Monifah Carter in real life was born on December 31, 1969. She grew up in Spanish Harlem. Her family encouraged Monifah to be a singer in her early age.

CAREER

Monifah signed a recording contract under MCA and released her debut album, Moods Moments in 1996. Her second studio album Mo'hogany was released in 1998, which chartered at number 9 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Singles. Her latest studio album was Home.
