Monica, is an American R&B singer who gained popularity in the 1990's. Early 2000's found Monica's career went down and on 2003, her career again blossomed with her album After The Storm. Overall, Monica went on to sell over 14 million singles and albums and 20 million worldwide.

In real life, Monica Denise Arnold professionally known as Monica was born October 24, 1979 in Oak Park located in Southern Georgia. Music runs in their family as her mother is a former church singer while her father a mechanic from an Atlanta freight company.
At age 2, her parents broke up and since then she had been following on her mother's regular performances in a local chapel. And this made her very passionate about singing where she started to train by the time she was 10 where she became the youngest member of a travelling gospel choir.
At 12, she was discovered by music scout Dallas Austin in Atlanta who was so amazed by her voice. Thus led him to offer a record deal to launch her firs album Miss Thang on 1995. The album soon was certifiec 3x platinum.
Her fame came to rise intially with :For You I Will" and then her hit single "The Boy is Mine" on 1998 after graduating high school at 16 where they teamed up with Brandy. This eventually became the biggest hit of the summer and the biggest hit of 1998 in the America staying a total of 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart.
