Mobb Deep was composed of a Hip-Hop duo, Prodigy and Havoc Prodigy was born on November 2, 1974 while Havoc was born on May 21, 1974. The duo met in Manhattan, where both were students at Graphic Arts High School. They found out that they both love hip-hop music that is why they became close.

In 1993, Prodigy and Havoc decided to formed a duo which they named Poetical Profits but soon changed their name to Mobb Deep. In that same year, they signed a recording contract under Island Records. They released their debut album, Juvenile Hell.

In 1995, they signed a recording contract under Land Records. In that same year, they released their landmark album, The Infamous which became an instant hit. The album features their hit single, "Shook Ones, Pt. 2".

In 1996, they released their third album, Hell on Earth. In 1999, they released Muzda Muzik. In 2000, Prodigy's solo album, H.N.I.C. was released. In 2001, the duo came back with a released of their album, Infamy. The album proved to be a disappointment commercially.

From 2002-2005, they had released an album from various different label. In 2005, they signed recording contract under 50 Cent Recording company. They also released their album, Blood Money which debuted at number 10 on the Billboard Charts.
