About
Born Melissa Morrison Higgins on August 19, 1983 in Melbourne, Australia and was the youngest among three children of a childcare center operator and a doctor.
Her musical genius was first discovered in the year 2001, while she was still studying in the Geelong Boarding School when she won for herself an unsigned song competition sponsored by the Triple J radio station; the song was entitled "All For Believing". Not long after, she already signed for the Australian label, Eleven: A Music Company and with it, she released her very first self-titled EP in November 2003.
After a year, she finally released her first studio album The Sound of White which won the 2005 Album of the Year on the ARIA awards. Three of the singles from this album rocketed to the top of the charts which earned her airplay and fans throughout the country and out as well. The album sold more than 600,000 copies, reaching nine times Platinum status!
"Steer", a track from her second studio album On A Clear Night reached the number 1 spot of the Australian charts and was a Certified Double Platinum. News say that Higgins is planning to relocate in the United States and subsequently release her 2nd album in 2008.
