Miki Howard is an American R&B Singer who rose to fame via her hit single, "Ain't Nobody like You".

About

Miki Howard or "Alicia Michelle Howard" in real life was born on September 30, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois to "Josephine Howard" of the legendary group, The Caravans and "Clay Graham" of "Pilgrim Jubilees". When Miki was in her early teens, the family moved to Los Angeles. Miki joined a teen beauty contest in her teen age years. One of the audience there was "Augie Johnson", the vocalist of the group Side Effect. He was impressed with the voice of Miki. In 1978, Miki became a member of the group.


For the next couple of years, Miki continued to sing with the group and performed backup vocals as a studio singer for jazz great Stanley Turrentine, Wayne Henderson, Roy Ayers, Grover Washington, Jr., and Philip Bailey. The group released several hit albums. The groups last album was released in 1982.


About 1985 Miki decided she was ready to embark on a more meaningful career. A demo in the right hands landed a recording contract at Atlantic Records. Her debut album, Come Share My Love was released in 1986. Her first single, "Come Share My Love" chartered #5 on the US R&B Charts. It also features the hit single, "Imagination" which landed at #13 on the US R&B Charts.


Her second album, Love Confessions was released in 1988 which features the singles, "Baby Be Mine" which peaked at #5 on the US R&B Charts and "That's What Love Is" a duet with Gerald Levert, which hit the R&B charts too. Her self-titled album was released in 1989 which features her first number 1 single, "Ain't Nobody like You".


Her next album, Femme Fetale was released in 1992 and features the singles, "This Bitter Earth" and "Good Morning Heartache". In that same year, Miki portrayed Billie Holiday in Spike Lee's Malcolm X , followed by a featured role in John Singleton's Poetic Justice with pop icon Janet Jackson.


She moved to her jazz roots a year later with a critically acclaimed tribute album to Billie Holiday, Miki Sings Billie. In 1996, she released her album, Live Plus. Her next album, Can't Count Me Out was released in 1997. She signed under Peak Records in 2001 and released her album, Three Wishes. The album earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Traditional R&B Recording. In 2006, she returned in Shanachie Records and relased her next album, Pillow Talk.
