About

Born as Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch on July 2, 1983 in Flagstaff, Arizona USA. Michelle Branch is the middle child of David and Peggy Branch, she was raised in Sedona, a small town in Arizona. At the age of 8, she began taking singing lessons but have to give them up (11 yrs old) because they have to move to sedona, Arizona. But that didn't stopped her from taking singing leesons, she again took up singing lessons this time it's ith Gina Bettum. By She also took lessons from Ms. Bettum's husband when she received her first guitar at the age of 15 but this did not last long because she finds herself being more technical instead of going with the flow. She left school and was tutored by her mom at home with a clear arning if her grades went down she'll have to go back to school, but luckily it never happened and thus she was able to focus on her music.

Her first break in the music industry was when she was at home looking after her younger sister Nicole. A family friend called her and told her that a music manager named Jeff Rabhan was taking a time share tour at her company and to get down to her office immediately and bring a demo tape. Seeing this as a great opportuniy, so she stole her neighbor's golf cart and made her way down to the resort with Nicole. At frist, Jeff Rabhan was not interested but after forcing her tape on him, he listened to it on his way home in the car. Few months later, Michelle unexpectedly received a call from Jeff Rabhan asking to sign her. After signing with Jeff Rabhan's company, Michelle went into the studio to record in independent album named Broken Bracelet.

In Summer of 2000, Michelle received a call from Hanson's reps asking her to play for them on some of their upcoming shows. She happily accepted and packed her bags and flew to California where she would be spotted by a rep at Maverick Records and offered a record deal. In Decemeber of 2000, she signed with Maverick Records and was halfway through her first major album which is entitled The Spirit Room.

Her debut single Everywhere shot into the Billboards in no time and made Michelle an established upcomer. Everyone wants to work with her including Lifehouse, Jude, The Calling, Sheryl Crow and most recently The Dixie Chicks bringing her on the tour with them. In 2002 Michelle released her secon single All You Wanted and it stormed in at #6 and reached #1 on the TRL top 10. In summer of 2002, less than a year of the release of her debut album and after a few weeks of the release of her 3rd single Goodbye to You, Santana requested her services for the song Game of Love, for his comeback album Shaman, which hit the top 5 gaining Michelle worldwide recognition.

Two years after the release of her debut album, she released her second album entitled Hotel Paper. Same as her debut album, she wrote her songs that took her years to finish. The carrier single of the album is Are You Happy Now?, which charted, since then she has gone to perform at the Superbowl, Latin VMAs, headlining the Pepsi Smash, etc.
