Method Man

Method Man is an American Grammy award-winning rapper, producer and occasional actor. His name was derived from the 1979 film "The Fearless Young Boxer" starred by Peter Chen Lau known as Method Man in the film.

[edit] Early Life
Clifford Smith known professionally as Method Man was born on March 2, 1971 in New York City. At an early age, he was introduced both to playing drums and poetry by his father. He was of interest with comic books where it was manifested of his many aliases several years before he was launched as Method Man.
Before going to hip-hop most of the time his life was mostly spent on illegal drug dealing and low paid jobs where he worked at the Statue of Liberty. He expressed regret on having been involved with drugs.
[edit] Wu-Tang Clan
As he was known rhyming on streets, he became part of the Wu-Tang Clan in the early 1990's together with seven other friends. The group reached stardom releasing their debut album "Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers" where Meth was among those visible members. He was the only one of two members to get a solo song on the album. His visibility then led him to go solo as he has established good amount of fan based.
Before going solo, the group then released their second album "Wu-Tang Forever" which was highly successful that went on to be reported by CNN for the massive sales the group achieved. To date the second album has sold over 8.3 millions copies worldwide.

To date Method Man has released 5 solo albums. His highly acclaimed debut album was Tical released on 1994. It was a huge success reaching at #4 spot in the Billboard 200 albums chart. And was certified platinum by the RIAA.
His second album "Tical 2000: Judegement Day" was released on 1998 which was highly influenced by the apocalypse it brings at the end of the millenium. Nonetheless, it was highly successful selling even more than his first. The album featured appearances from Lisa Lopes and even Donald Trump.
The third and fourth album, "Tical 0: The Prequel" and "4:21...The Day After" respectively was actually not as successful as his prior albums. Though they were certified platinum by RIAA, both albums had only one singles that chart.
"Live to Die", the fifth solo album will soon be released on the summer of 2007.
