Metamorphosis is second album of Hilary Duff that made her a bona fide singer. This album had a hipper and more eclectic sound compared to the other materials given to her previously. On the week of it's release, it charted number two on the Billboard 200.

This album was released on August 26, 2003 under Buena Vista records. It followed the rhythm as spearheaded by Avril Lavigne but made it more light and sweet. Metamorphosis was a catchy and appropriate title for this album as it represents the changes in Hilary's personality not to mention the fact that they want to attract older teenage population as well as the young teens for a larger fan base. As Hilary puts it, "We called the album Metamorphosis because it's about changes that everybody experiences," says Duff. "It's not just about me, but it is very personal. This music is a good way to get everyone to know the real me."
