In the 1980's she left her home and moved to Los Angeles where oppurtunities are bigger to enter the music industry. In 1990's she became a member of a group called The Graces. In 1989, The group recorded an album, Perfect View.
Brooks signed in with Capitol Records and released her debut single, "Bitch", in 1997 which earned her a nomination on the Grammy Award. Her debut album Blurring The Edges went Platinum. She toured all over America and Europe. Her success just started but her marriage ended in 1998.
