Maxïmo Park is Newcastle-based indie rock band formed in 2000.

The band was formed in 2000. Archis Tiku and Duncan Lloyd performs in different pubs until they've met Lukas Wooller and decided to form Maxïmo Park. Paul Smith was discovered by Tom English's sister and Smith's then-girlfriend singing along Stevie Wonder's Superstition in a pub. They got they name Maxïmo Park from a havana meeting place called Maximo Gomez Park.
By 2004, they recorded a 7" red vinyl single in Fenham. The single, Graffiti was reached Steve Beckett of Warp Records and decided to sign the band. A year later, Maxïmo Park released their debut album A Certain Trigger which received a strong review and a solid fanbase in the UK. The success of the album resulted to a nomination in the 2005 Nationwide Mercury Prize.
Their new album was released on April 2007 following a tour which was sold out after an hour of its release on February 2, 2007.
