Contemporary country singer Martina McBride rose to stardom in the late '90s, with her single, "My Baby Loves Me" became an instant big hit, launching Martina into the top rank of country stardom.

Martina Mariea Schiff better known as Martina McBride was born on July 29, 1966 in Medicine Lodge, Kansas and discovered country music through her father, who was the lead singer of a local band The Schifters.
Martina used to sing and played keyboard with The Schifters on her teenager days. After graduating from high school, Martina gigged around Kansas with different bands. Martina married soundman John McBride, and 1990 the couple transferred to Nashville, where John work for artists like Charlie Daniels and Ricky Van Shelton;
Martina worked her demo tapes and her husband helped Martina by producing her own demo tape, which was heard by RCA Records and in 1991, she finally signed a recording contract with the said recording company. At the same year, her husband was hired as Garth Brooks production manager, which helped Martina to be with Garth Brooks as his opening act in his concert tours.
Her first album, The Time Has Come was released in 1992, offering a set of songs indebted to traditional honky tonk and progressive-minded country folk. Her follow-up album The Way That I Am was released in 1993, it was her breakthrough, with the lead single "My Baby Loves Me" climbing up the country charts to the number two position. Her single, "Independence Day" also top the charts and another single, "Life 9" also reached the top ten.
In 1995, the single, "Wild Angels" from her third album, Safe in the Arms of Love gave Martina her second top five hits, and the title track of her album became her first ever number one single. In 1997, her next album, Evolution became her first top 10 country album and the song "Valentine" which she sang with Jim Brickman became her first big hit on the adult contemporary charts. Her two singles, "Happy Girl" and "Whatever You Say" reached the top two spots and has a two number 1 hits "A Broken Wing" and "Wrong Again". Her album, Evolution sold over two million copies launching Martina into the top rank of country stardom.
Martina released a Christmas album in late 1998, and returned into country music with her next studio album, Emotion in 1999. Her single, I Love You went number one into the Country Charts and the follow-ups Love's the Only House, There You Are and It's My Time reached the the top 10 of the Country Charts.
In 2001, Martina released her first compilation album, Greatest Hits and make it into the top of the Country Charts. Her single, "Blessed" hit the number one spot and another singles, "When God-Fearin", "Women Get the Blues" and "Where Would You Be" reached the Top Ten. Her 2003 album, Martinawho celebrated womanhood reached the Top Ten album hits and 2005 released album, Timeless reached the number three spot.
