About

Marques Barett Houston was born on August 4, 1981 to parents Michael and Caroline Houston. Since childhood, he always dreams of becoming a celebrity. And this dream became a reality when he and his childhood friends, Jerome "Romeo" Jones and Don "Half Pint" Santos formed a group called Immature in 1991.

A year later, Don left the band due to his parents demand to quit but quickly found a replacement in Kelton "LDB" Kessee (The LDB in his name stands for Little Drummer Boy for he is good at drums).

With Chris Stokes as their manager, they landed a deal with Virgin Records and released their debut single On Our Worst Behavior on September 22, 1992. Followed by three more albums entitled Playtime is Over in 1994, We Got It in 1995 and The Journey in 1997 under the name, Immature.

In 1998, they decided to change their name to IMx thinking that former name doesn't fit them anymore for they are turning mature in both musical and psychological aspect.

The band has released two albums under the new name entitled Introducing IMx in 1999 and a self-titled album in 2001 before totally dissolved in 2002 due to different pursuit of careers.

After the break-up, Marques did not had a hard time establishing his own name as a solo artist. In fact, he had frequently sung with Omarion and B2K members prior IMx parted ways.

Marques was indeed the first Immature member to release a solo album in 2003 called MH. But the album did not match any Immature album in terms of sale.

Strongly determined to make it to the top, he promoted his solo flag through the Scream Tours with Nick Cannon, B2K and Bow Wow.

Aside from his music world, Marques also tried his luck in movies by casting You Got Served as Elgin and Fat Albert as Dumb Donald, both in 2004.

He also starred in the sitcom Cuts (a spin-off of One on One) as Kevin Barnes alongside actress, Shannon Elizabeth (2006).

Back in the music scene, in 2005, Marques released his sophomore effort entitled Naked that contained the single All Because of You that went successful. Another track off the album entitled Naked was also successful but in different perspective. Its video became a controversy for its explicit scenes causing Black Entertainment Television and MTV to refused to air the video.

Eventually, the video was aired after going through an editing process.

In 2007, Marques was back with a more mature album entitled Veteran. The album was supposed to be released in 2006 but due to his grandmother's death occurred on the said year, the label has freezed the album from releasing and moved it to 2007 instead.

On the lighter side, Veteran became the number one R&B album in the country and peaked at number 5 on the Hot 100 chart.
