Mantronix

Mantronix is an American Hip-Hop Group formed in 1984 until 1991. They produced several albums which includes their hit album, In Full Effect.

Mantronix was formed in 1984 at New York City by "DJ Kurtis Mantronix" and "MC Tee". Kurtis was born in Jamaica and raised in Canada. Soon Kurtis began to performed in several Downtown Records. This time, he met MC Tee and decided to formed a duo which they named, Mantronix. They did a demo tape which they gave to the president of Sleeping Bag Records, "William Socolov".

Their debut album, Mantronix: The Album was released in 1985 under Sleeping Bag Records. The album chartered at #47 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. The album features the singles, "Fresh is The Word", "Bassline", "Needle To The Groove" and "Ladies". In 1986, they released their second album, Music Madness. It chartered at #27 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. The album contains the singles, "Who is it" and "We Control The Dice". In Full Effect was released in 1988 and landed at #18 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. It features the singles, "Got To Have Your Love" and "Take Your Time". Their next album, This Should Move Ya was released in 1990 and reached at #61 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. Their fifth and final album, The Incredible Sound Machine was released in 1991. After the released, the group was disbanded.
