[edit] About

Maksim was born is Sibenik, a small town in Croatia. His parents knew nothing about classical music, and they are confused by their son's passion, but still they were supportive and his lessons were arranged.

Later on, Maksim's rare talents became obvious to his instructors, and he was enrolled in Sibenik's state music school. From there Maksim harboured dreams of being a pianist, a concert pianist to be exact, and hard work made those dreams come true. The same year he gave his first public performance. A few years later, he gave his first concert performance of Haydn's Piano Concerto in C Major.

He went on to study at the Music Academy in Zagreb, then a year later, in the Franz Liszt Conservatoire in Budapest in which he won first prize at the Nicolai Rubinstein INternational Piano Competition. In 2000, he went to Paris to study with Igor Lazko and also he won first prize in the Pontoise Piano Competition a year later.

After returning to Croati he found himself as the center of media interest, making frequent television appearances and also giving a great number of interviews. Later on he recorded his first CD, Gestures, an album of Croatian piano pieces. It became one of the best-selling classical recordings to be released in that country, and Maksim was invited to officiate the award ceremony in Porin.

Maksim met Tonci Huljic, a musician and composer, in 2001. Huljic provided the young pianist some original pieces and introduced him to Mel Bush, a music impresario.

In 2006, made a tour in Japan and Asia with his third album, A New World, and was extremely delighted in playing on an outdoor homecoming show in Zagreb.

His fame is set to skyrocket upward with the release of Elektric and his forthcoming tour in Asia, where he is expected to perform in crossover concerts with his band and with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.

Mrvica is married to Ana, his childhood sweetheart. The couple have a daughter named LeeLoo.
