Mad Season was released on May 23, 2000 under Atlanta Records. The single "Bent" became the biggest hit in the album. It topped the Billboard Adult Top 40 chart for 13 weeks, the Top 40 Mainstream chart, Top 40 Tracks chart, and Hot 100 for a week. Another hit was the song "If You're Gone" which became #1 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 for 13 weeks. The album Mad Season was Certified Quadruple Platinum.
