About

R&b singer Lyfe Jennings (Chester Jennings) was born on 1987 in Toledo, Ohio. At a young age, the young singer joined a group with his brother and two cousins. At 14 years old, Lyfe was sent to jail for a ten-year sentence. Inside, his music developed even deeper. Before Lyfe was released in December 2002, he recorded a demo. He then performed in a club named Apollo. People liked his songs and sold thousand of copies with his four-song demo. Lyfe then moved to New York to sign in a major record label, Columbia. In 2004, he released his debut album, Lyfe 268-192. It was named after his inmate number. The following year, the single “Hypothetically” had a version with Fantasia (winner of American Idol). In 2006, a hip-hop follow-up album was issued, The Phoenix, with appearances of Young Buck and Three 6 Mafia.

Reviews

  • Lyfe Jenning writes brilliant lyrics. He talks about the frustrations, pain and disappointments that you face in real life. Although it is all sad, he turns it around and fills his songs with hope, optimism and love. -Mimi 008:45, 28 November 2007 (PST)
