About

Illinois native, Marty Casey and the Kourelis brothers (bassist Dino Kourelis and drummer Bobby Kourelis) were already scrubbing elbows since they were kids playing t-ball in the southwest Chicago suburb of Hickory Hills. The three started the band when they were 14 and in junior high, changing guitarists over the years until Billy Sawilchik joined them in 1994 (the band was then known as the Swinging Lovehammers). Aside from being bandmates, they were also roommates, living in a couple of houses in Chicago area, which they called Hammerhouse.

Soon after, the band had accomplished a series of self-released albums and sold for more than 25,000 album copies without a label or distributor and they even tagged as one of the Windy City's most popular live bands.

The band took a short hiatus when lead vocalist Marty Casey joined the hit reality TV show, Rockstar: INXS, a competition-cum-audition to find the new lead vocalist of 80's Australian rock band INXS. With his powerful performance in the CBS show, Marty Casey have gathered a few million new followers.

Due to a series of hit singles, Casey's astounding performances has made him become a fan favorite and his catchy single, Trees, ranked the top spot of MSN.com's most downloaded single. Aside from opening for INXS, the Lovehammers also opened for acts such as Nickelback, Jerry Cantrell, Interpol, Puddle of Mudd, Cake and Gomez on a 21-city tour. In 2004, their DVD Live/Raw reached No.1 on the Billboard DVD chart on its release.

Their single Straight As An Arrow was recorded by Chicago legend Steve Albini (Nirvana) with Marty Frederickson (Aerosmith, Mick Jagger) and Johnny K (Staind, Disturbed) manning the mixing board on additional tracks.

Lovehammers pen songs that grab listeners' attention through its crunchy guitar riff, surging melodies and Casey's formidable emotive voice. The roster of producers who have lined up to work with the Lovehammers is one proof that Lovehammers is here to stay. Their record is a total collage of different sounds and different recording techniques reason why they are loved by most rock enthusiasts.

Despite the fact that they have achieved an overwhelming success where other bands can only dream of, the Lovehammers are not planning to rest since they are only beginning.
