Lionel Richie is one of the most popular R&B singer, songwriter, composer and producer. One of his biggest hit album was Can't Slow Down which bagged him his first Grammy Awards and American Music Awards. He has sold over 100 million albums worldwide

Lionel Richie was born on June 20, 1949 in Tuskegee, Alabama to Lionel Richie Sr., a systems analyst and Alberta Richie, a teacher.
Lionel grew up on the campus of Tuskegee Institute, While he was studying there, Lionel formed a group called The Commodores. In 1968, he becale the lead singer and saxophonist of the group. They had signed a recording contract with Motown Records and became the front act for Jackson Five. Their group became on the America's most popular soul groups.
Lionel had a composed a song for Country singer Kenny Rogers entitled Lady which became hit. He sang a duet with Diana Ross entitled Endless Love which became the soundtrack of the movie with the same title. The duet became an instant hit, topping the charts for nine weeks.
In 1981, Lionel decided to have a solo career. In 1982, he released his first self-titled album under Motown Records. The album became an instant hit.
In 1983, he released his second album, Can't Slow Down, which topped all billboard charts. He became an instant International Superstar. He also earned his first awards from Grammy and American Music Awards.
Several albums followed and most of them topped the charts including each singles from his album. His latest album is Coming Home, which was released on September 12, 2006. His single I Call It Love became his biggest hit after 10 years. The 2006 album Coming Home found him working with an all-star cast of collaborators including Jermaine Dupri, Raphael Saadiq, Sean Garrett, and Dallas Austin.
