Biography
Lil' Sonic known by close friends as T.J., grew up in a home musically influenced. His dad played old disco jazz and funk records any time he could which brought Sonic up listening to samples. This keen ear to the oldies he was familiar with made it simple for him to put instrumentals together when he was only 11 years old. Even at this age, people would call and ask how old he was assuming he was in his 20's. Most people assumed that an 11 year old still in the 6th grade would have better things to do, but for Sonic, music had always played a big part in his life.
Beginning of Music Career
He started out his musical career in 2001 as an active user in the VGMix online remixing community where game music arrangement composers share their original work with others. After releasing a couple hit Video Game Remixes as an 11 year old, under the name "Lil' Sonic" which was based on the fact that he made mostly Sonic The Hedgehog game remixes, Sonic was persuaded by his friends on the website to move to a more "Mainstream" genre of music, which inevitably lead to his first Hip-Hop instrumental which was a "Super Mario Bros." Overworld Theme Remix which is still found across the internet. This change of his music style firmly installed Sonic as one of the youngest hip-hop producers in New England at his age. When the time came, and he had reached the point of his 150th instrumental, Sonic found a new hobby that he was keen to, which was Rapping. During this period, he was also a member of his school marching band, where he played the snare drum.
First Big Break
When Sonic graduated junior high, he sent out his first demo to a Connecticut Radio Station, WZMX- Hot 93.7. He used his own beats and verses to catch the attention of Hot 93.7's radio jock, K-Dub who gave him tips on how to improve his talents at his young age. Sonic credits him as one of the first who gave him "open ears" to his music as well as the one responsible for opening up his doors to the music industry. This link to K-Dub helped him meet the astounding artist Milo Sheff, who was the first Mainstream hip-hop artist from Connecticut to have his song on Hot 93.7. Milo Sheff let him know the truth about the business. He basically mentored him, told him what to look for, and avoid while doing music. Sonic calls Milo his "big bro" which establishes that they are really close friends.

Lil' Sonic's music has been countlessly compared to the styles of The Neptunes, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Scott Storch, as well as Ryan Leslie. Almost unheard of in variety, he has been given 5 stars even by the likes of Jin The Emcee, as well as JoJo whom he hopes to work with on her third album.
