About
Kimberly Denise Jones professionally known as Lil' Kim was born on July 11, 1974. She is one of the most successful female rappers of all time with four solo albums recorded and one group album with Junior MAFIA. All in all she sold has over twelve million albums worldwide. Along with Missy Elliott, she was the only female rapper to have three consecutive platinums under her belt.
Lil' Kim grew up humbly in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, New York where at age of nine her parents got divorced. Her mother moved out their house leaving her with her father whose relationship was not even good and turned sour. Like her mother, after a few years her father moved to another state too leaving her homeless. This time she went back with her mother where they have nothing but leave on someone else's car along the streets. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as along the street she met Christopher Wallace who became her major influence both in her personal life and her life as an artist.
And on 1994, Lil' Kim joined in the Brooklyn based group Junior MAFIA where they recorded the first and only album "The Conspiracy". After a year with the group, she began a solo career recording her debut album Hard Core on 1996 which debuted at number eleven on the Billboard 200 selling over 100,000 copies in its first week.
