Liberty X members were the runners up of the UK TV Show, "Popstars". They gained popularity not only in UK but in some other countries. Their debut album, Thinking It Over was released in 2002.

Liberty X was formed in 2001. The five members were runners up in the UK TV Program, "Popstars" which consists of "Tony Lundon", "Kevin Simm", "Michelle Heaton", "Kelli Young" and "Jessica Taylor". The winning group were called, Hear'Say. The five decided to named their group into "Liberty".
After building the band, they received a letter from the Justice Court coming from the original group also called "Liberty". The original group wants that the UK band must changed their name to avoid confusion from audiences. High Court agreed with the original group. The UK group made a voting from the UK tabloid "The Sun" readers to suggests them their new name. The winning name was Liberty X.
Their first singles, "Thinking It Over" which chartered #5 in the UK Top 40 Singles Chart and "Doin' It" gained them a popularity. Their next single, "Just A Little" hit worldwide, and landed at Top 10 music charts in many countries. Their debut album, Thinking It Over was released in May 2002. The album chartered at #3 on the UK Albums Chart and sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Other hit singles released from the album are "Got To Have Your Love" which chartered at #2 on the UK Singles Chart and "Holding On For You" which debuted at #2 on the UK Singles Chart.
Their next album, Being Nobody was released in November 2003. It features the singles, "Being Nobody" which landed #3 on the UK Singls Chart, "Ain't Nobody" and "Being Boiled". The album reached #12 on the UK Albums Chart and sold 200,000 copies. After the released of their last single, the group took a long break in the music scene.
They returned in 2005 and signed to an independent label Unique Corp Records. Their first single, "Song For Lovers" chartered #5 on the UK Singles Chart and spending 4 consecutive weeks in the Top 10. Their next album which includes the single was released in October 2005. It features the other single like "Just A Little". The album is only a minor hit which sold 10,000 copies in the UK.
In May 2007, it was stated in their own website that they will going to separate and will not do any albums anymore. Their last performance was held in September 2007. Their compilatation album was released last January 2008.

- The name Liberty was chosen to reflect the freedom they enjoyed from not being under the rigid enforcements of the television company and record label that was put upon Hear'Say.
